Sat, 28/06/2008 - 08:46 — cozThis section of the immunisation website is currently still under development, but there is already some useful resources for you to download on it. Examples include: letter for parents, information for health professionals on the vaccine, leaflets and poster.
There are also some question and answers and some general information about cervical cancer and the vaccine which may be useful when speaking to parents, schools and young people about the campaign.

RCN toolkit for school Nurses published

develop their professional practice. It takes into account the variety of educational settings and varying policy and practice
structures which apply to school nurses in the four countries of the UK.
It includes chapters on our public health role, working with children and young people with ongoing health needs, management and professional accountablility. There are also some examples of paperwork and policies which may be useful.

The Red Cross - new first aid resources and lesson plans available

Some of these are free whilst others are available to buy, including: babysitting pack, teaching first aid, assembly lesson plans on topics such as the importance of hand washing, video and audio clips and online quizzes.

For school nurses it has some great resources for sharing with children about daytime wetting, using a potty, soiling and nocturnal enuresis. These are available to order and some can be downloaded for free.
ERIC launches new toolkit to support children and young people
Fri, 13/11/2009 - 08:45 — tomA new toolkit has been launched to help health professionals in primary and secondary school settings support children and young people suffering with continence problems. “Why me?” produced by ERIC (Education and Resources for Improving Childhood Continence), with funding from the Big Lottery, will assist schools in providing help and reassurance for children and their families. The pack is available to download free from www.eric.org.uk.
“Why me?” will ensure schools are able to help children and families deal positively with childhood continence problems and address the issues sensitively. The new toolkit features management information, including a presentation for parents of new starters. This will allow school nurses to introduce the school nursing service and provide information about health issues including childhood continence.
